Samsung launched their latest smartphone, Samsung Galaxy R I9103. It is a just a little bit modified and downgraded version of Samsung Galaxy S2. Samsung Galaxy R has a Super LCD screen at the place of Super AMOLED of Galaxy S2. It will be priced a little less than S2 exactly the way earlier this year Samsung had done for Galaxy S and Galaxy SL. This is a tried and tested formula of Samsung to first launch the highly priced product, then launch a little stripped down version and then study the market response. (Actually an intelligent move). The launch date and price of Galaxy R is yet to be announced. It is expected in India by End of September.
Ergonomics:
Samsung Galaxy R has a solid built. Made out of metal and plastic, it fits nicely in hands. The phone is 125mm long and 66mm wide but only 9.5mm thick. Considering the light weight and thin designs of the latest Samsung phone like the S2, 135grams of Galaxy R would sound a little heavy but nevertheless the solid design of the phone is worth admiring.
Display:
Galaxy R features a giant 4.2 inch SC (Super Clear) LCD capacitive touch screen with resolution of 480 x 800 pixels and 16M color support. The SC LCD is quiet sharp and bright and the touch screen is crisp. It also features the touch Wiz UI, multi touch input method, touch sensitive controls, Gyroscope sensor, accelerometer for UI auto rotate and proximity sensor for auto turn off.
Camera:
Galaxy R has a 5MP auto focus camera with LED flash and maximum resolution of 2592х1944 pixels. It is able to record HD 720p video. There’s also a secondary camera for video calling.
Processor and OS:
It features a Dual-core 1GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor powered by ULP GeForce GPU on Tegra 2 AP20H chipset. As far as the OS is concerned Galaxy R has the latest Android 2.3(Gingerbread) OS
Storage Capacity:
The internal storing capacity of Galaxy R is 8GB. It also supports SD memory card up to 32GB for memory extension. Theirs is a practically unlimited storage for contacts and call records.
Connectivity:
The smart phone has the latest connectivity features having Bluetooth 3.0+HS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n along with Wi-Fi hotspot and micro USB 2.0.
Battery:
The removal brushed metal plate at the back covers a standard Li-Ion 1650 mAh battery that is able to provide up to 9 hours of talk time and 620 hours of Stand by time.
